Tokyo Skyline featuring the Tokyo Tower and Mount Fuji
This is one the first images that I took during my first stay in Japan. It was taken from a location in Minato ward.
What makes it special for me is the silhouette of Mt. Fuji clearly visible on the horizon. Tokyo Tower must have been inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I was surprised to find out that it is 13 m (about 42.5 ft) taller than the French “original”. However, it does not dominate the cityscape as much the Eiffel Tower does. The Eiffel Tower with its 324 metres (1,063 ft) is by far the tallest structure in Paris, whereas in Tokyo there are many taller skyscrapers and structures.
The recently built Tokyo Skytree is even nearly twice as tall as Tokyo Tower.
