Japan

It had been my dream for a long time to visit Japan and when it was finally possible, the Land of the Rising Sun didn’t disappoint me. The country is a fascinating mix of high-tech and old traditions. Shinkansen trains and women in kimonos.

While every country is unique in its own way, I think Japan is the most unique of all. The uniqueness of the Japanese culture may be attributed to a great extent to the period of isolation known in Japanese as sakoku, which means “locked country”.  This policy was introduced by the rulers of Japan in 1639 and it lasted for about 250 years. Some things which may be perfectly fine in your country, in Japan may be unacceptable.

But you don’t need to worry if you’d like to visit Japan, I found the Japanese to be extremely polite and friendly and the country very safe and it was great fun to explore it with my camera.
